I find it essential as an empath to have a place of solitude to decompress and regenerate from the city. That place for me is Joshua Tree. I have taken regular trips there for over 20 years.
In my most recent visit, I found myself letting go so deeply that an inner poet started to arise from within. I haven't written poetry since High School. It felt fun, light and easy as I explored this new mode of expression. The poems streaming forth from my Spirit were an expression of my visceral experiences. The following is one of my favorites.
A Quail Sings
A quail sings
the wind blows
whispering softly
to me
The sun shining
warm skin
feeling loved by the sky
Coyotes howling in the distance
a pack
a family together
and again
a quail sings
the wind blows
and I cry
